I was resting in a bench after a grueling badminton match when my partner, out of the blue, asked, “What makes a tournament successful?” Good question.
The curious writer in me compelled me to ask friends who are tournament habitués:

| “A successful tournament is one that follows its eligibility rules and guidelines. For a working person like me, I like it when game schedules are posted ahead of time and are implemented on time so I can plan my weekend schedule. I also check the quality of shuttlecock being used and I make sure that officiating is good.” |

| “I seldom join tournaments because I always check first who the organizer is. I like well-organized tournaments, and it’s critical for me to get good games because that’s what I am paying for. Prizes are also important, and of course, the awarding party. A party compensates for a tournament that has no attractive prizes.” |

Starting February, the first of ten legs will blast-off in Central Luzon. Then, the group will be heading to Bacolod and Davao on March, Tacloban and Cagayan on April, Cebu and kidapawan on May, and Butuan and Manila on July. The month of June will see action among collegiate teams, with no entry fee, that will be vying for the cash prize of Php 50,000.00, Php 30,000.00 and Php 15,000.00 for first, second and third places, respectively. The winning team and runner-up will likewise be provided by Kimoni Philippines a sponsorship on uniform and other badminton paraphernalia.
The badminton community will once again see in action the biggest gathering of the country’s badminton stand-outs when winners of each leg will trade smashes and will show-off their winning forms at the Battle of the Champions on July 22 and 23 at the Market! Market! Activity Center.
